Forever in Love with Jesus. . .
To be intimately in Love with Him should be our ultimate goal.
Not just moments of sporadicity (i think i just made up a new word...) in other words..moments of being sporadic - spontaneous - like..."oh hey!" moments lol...catch my drift? When we happen to come to the realization that it's been a good week or so since we've dove deep in the Word. Or our life has maybe gotten a little rocky lately? So maybe we should say a few prayers just to get us through the week.....STOP!
Stop right there.
If you think that that is considered a healthy relationship with God the Father, you are so very wrong!
Time spent with God is never wasted.
If you think that just knowing of God is enough - then you need a reality check my friend. God desires that we have an intimate - deep - personal relationship with Him, it's His greatest desire!
Think of your relationship with God - as a marriage relationship. He wants you to vow to Stand with Him for Better or for Worse, in the Good times and in the Bad...He wants you to depend on Him, to Trust Him, to Know that He will provide for you - despite what might come your way.
I will be honest, I am guilty of not having a very intimate relationship with Him - my life used to consist of sporadic moments of Bible Reading and Praying........until a few moments - times in my life - that really hit home for me, and caused me to come closer to God that I will ever be able to comprehend. As i write this....i am holding back tears for various reasons. One reason is for a person I hold dear to my heart - on the other hand, it is because I am so taken back at the way God works...all throughout my life He has been there, holding my hand...and carrying me thru the sand in the worst of times. I am also just so thankful! for All He has done. He truly blows my mind sometimes.
I have made the conscious decision to draw near to Him, so that He will draw near to me. I don't ever want to drift far from Him ever again. The devil has a funny way of pulling us further and further from God so secretively that we don't even notice until we are so far away that we find it hard to come back to Him. Little do we ever remember, that He is always waiting with arms open WIDE - ready to EMBRACE us all. Regardless of what we've done, He loves us for WHO WE ARE. Not for who we will become.
God can bring us together, He can also drive us apart....If He drives you apart from someone, it is to teach one or the other a very important lesson. Remember, God is the ONLY one that can see the BIGGER Picture. We can never comprehend what is going on in His mind, because His thoughts are not our Thoughts. His ways are NOT our ways, even tho sometimes we'd like them to be, eh?
DRAW NEAR TO GOD AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU.
Fall Forever In Love With Jesus Now, and for all eternity. <3
Another wonderful post! And certainly one with a very important message. Thank-you so much for sharing it. :-)
ReplyDeleteCertainly, I think most of us have been guilty of not spending nearly as much time with Jesus as we should. And yet...without Him where would we be? He is our everything. In fact, your post reminded me of quote from G.K. Chesterton's biography of St. Francis of Assisi, in which Chesterton noted that "to this great mystic his religion was not a thing like a theory but a thing like a love-affair", and that is, indeed, how it should be. Something I realize I need to always keep in mind more than I do.
Certainly, your own example is one that is very inspiring. Not only by your words, but your very life. And because you always point to Jesus. :-)
I couldn't agree more! I just realized i never responded to your comment...amazing how time flies, it's been 3 years already since i started this blog! Incredible.
ReplyDeleteYou *do* need to update more often, though! :-)
